Northrop Grumman is seeking a Software Engineering Intern to join the Aeronautics Systems Intern Program. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL.

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Global Autonomous and Tactical Solutions (GATS) operating unit.

Roles and Responsibilities

As an intern, you’ll participate in a summer internship program to develop competencies in a variety of engineering specializations that may include:

  • Support software engineering efforts on Unmanned Aerial System projects
  • Construct, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, and maintain equipment, components, devices, or systems.
  • Work from engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.
  • Operate related equipment; conduct tests and report data in prescribed format.
  • Perform calibration and alignment checks; make adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed.

Basic Qualifications

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

  • Be enrolled full-time and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college/university AND will be enrolled full time in Fall 2025.
  • Be majoring in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) degree.

  • Be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) for at least 10 weeks during summer 2025.

  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.25/4.0 or higher.
  • Experience with Python, C++, Nessus, cyber security evaluation tools
  • Cameo or SysML modeling experience
  • Digital Signal Processing and RF Design or design of supporting software

Intern Pay Range

  • Undergraduate degrees (Including graduating students planning on attending/enrolled in a full-time Master’s program): $21.75 to $31.50 per hour
  • Master’s: $31.50 to $40.00 per hour
