2025 PhD Residency - AI for Chemistry Internship Location: Mountain View, CA How you will make 10x impact: This project aims to push the limits of science and modeling as we know them and to prove how ML can radically accelerate our understanding of the world. Details: Location: X's headquarters in Mountain View, CA Start Date(s): Year-round rolling basis Duration: a flexible 4 months to 1 year program based on project team needs and your availability Throughout your AI Residency you can expect: To be embedded into one of our confidential or public X projects. What you should have: Currently enrolled in a doctoral (PhD) program in AI, machine learning, chemistry, computational chemistry, or a related field. Experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages, including but not limited to: Python, Java, C/C++. Experience with one or more of computational chemistry, synthesis planning and/or solution-phase organic reaction simulation. Experience with machine learning systems, algorithms or applications such as: deep learning, computer vision, robotics, optimization, on-device learning, NLP, audio/speech recognition, signal processing or time-series analysis. It’d be great if you also had these: Experience and interest in organic chemistry (synthesis, mechanisms, etc). Experience working with molecular representations. Experience in applying computational techniques to simulating reactions (solution phase organic reactions, etc). An understanding of techniques in ML/RL and how they might be applied to synthesis and retrosynthesis planning. Additional Information: This role requires exposure to technologies subject to heightened controls under US export laws. Due to our immediate need to fill this role and the lengthy process required to obtain export licenses, we will not be able to move forward with anyone requiring a license for such technologies.
