Sandy Cove Ministries is seeking a
part time Accounting Assistant to join our team. This position will report directly to the Director of Fundraising & Communications at our North East, Maryland retreat property. The position is responsible for leveraging social media to expand our marketing efforts and assist the communications department's overall goals. The ideal candidate has 5+ years' relevant experience, excellent communication skills, and can prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Position Summary: Analyzes and processes vendor invoices by recording all expenses in the proper period and obtains proper approval. Maintains point of sale and petty cash.
General Purpose: To assist the Accounting Department by helping to receive, separate, log-in, code, and process all invoices for payment within the credit period extended by our suppliers, and maintaining point of sale and petty cash so as to help people connect with God and each other.
Role Qualifications:

- High School Diploma
- 2+ years of clerical office experience
- Trustworthy and proven integrity
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
- Prepare all invoices for payment by, opening & sorting the mail, checking invoices against purchases orders, assuring proper approval has been obtained from the department head and post the invoices to paid
- Balance vendor statements and accurately reconcile any discrepancies
- Research expenses to ensure vendor invoices are charged to appropriate department and line item.
- Analyze credit card statements to ensure items are charged appropriately and reconcile statements for payment
- Organize files and maintain records by maintaining vendor address, phone number(s), and tax ID information
- Make change and provide operating cash for all points of direct sales
- Maintain petty cash fund
- Assist in counting offerings
- Perform all other reasonable duties as assigned
Essential skills and experience
- Knowledge of general accounting knowledge
- Strong analytical skills
- Basic computer skills and ability to use internal software
- Detail oriented
- Proven ability to have self-initiative
- Excellent knowledge and experience working with Excel

Compensation: Minimum: $15.00 | Maximum: $19.70 Pay Grade 12
