Primary Purpose We are building a pool of applicants for our Community Education classes offered on our Coos Bay campus. You must reside in the State of Oregon at the time of instruction for both In-person and Online teaching. To offer classes in the Community Education and/or Workforce Development non-credit area of instruction that is related to the area of content expertise an individual possesses. Individuals are to put forward a non-credit course proposal in combination with the application that they intend to offer. The priority of the department is to provide quality instruction that fosters the need for diverse lifelong learning opportunities offered to the public.
Description of Essential Functions Teaching (95% of Time)- Teach various courses individually developed in Community Education and Workforce Development.
- Use instructional methodology appropriate to the audience and to the student (e.g., lecture, demonstration, group discussion, technology-enhanced delivery, computer-assisted delivery, and distance delivery). Must be able to explain and deliver materials in a variety of ways to meet the needs of a broad range of learning activities.
- Evaluate students in accordance with the criteria in the course outline and other applicable college policies and procedures. Is responsible for turning in grades according to college policy and procedure.
- If required by the nature of the course, create a course syllabus which includes, but is not limited to, course outcomes, course structure, materials to be covered, grading criteria, due dates for materials, types of assessments, and assessment dates.
General Duties (5% of Time)- Work effectively with colleagues and students of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, demonstrating an ability to work with others in a courteous and cooperative fashion.
- Ensure compliance with all Southwestern Oregon Community College rules, regulations, and policies.
- Demonstrate continued professional growth by staying current in and expanding knowledge of teaching techniques.

Education: Education requirements are dependent on course offering.
Experience: Experience presenting to groups in an instructional setting.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OR LICENSES Must reside in the State of Oregon. Southwestern Oregon Community College is unable to support out of state employment at this time.
Any required credentials or licenses required will be dependent on the nature of the course content that is put forward for proposed instruction.
