Summary

Walnut Grove Children's Learning Center is looking for a Teacher for our afterschool program who can help create innovative lesson plans and enhance the learning environment for our students. The ideal candidate for this position enjoys working with children and is dedicated to creating a nurturing and positive atmosphere for every student. If you have previous experience working in an early childhood center or with groups of school-age children and are interested in joining our growing team, we encourage you to apply.

Duties

• Teaching/Supervising a class of children in a manner consistent with the philosophy and goals of the center
• Meeting the school bus, taking attendance and notifying Director of absences
• Being responsible for the learning environment in the classroom
• During the school year, assist with homework completion
• Planning and carrying out group activities such as games, art projects, etc.
• Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding children and their families
• Maintaining professional conduct and attitudes in working with parents and staff, as well as visitors and the general public
• Promote a positive environment in the classroom and the center
• Using the Brightwheel app appropriately
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Knowledge of childhood development and a dedication to continuing to learn new information to provide a quality learning environment for children
• Interpersonal and communication skills (including oral and written expression and comprehension skills)
• Organizational, planning and execution skills (including time management skills)
• Problem solving abilities and critical thinking skills
• CPR, First Aid
