We are seeking a dedicated and inspiring Cross Country Coach to join our athletic department. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop student-athletes' skills, foster teamwork, and promote a healthy, active lifestyle. The ideal candidate will bring passion for running, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to student development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead practices, including warm-ups, drills, and cool-down routines
- Monitor and evaluate athletes' performance, providing constructive feedback and encouragement
- Organize and oversee team competitions, meets, and travel arrangements
- Promote sportsmanship, discipline, and a positive team environment
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and other coaches to support student-athletes' academic and athletic success
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during all training and competition activities
- Maintain equipment, uniforms, and training facilities in good condition
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience coaching cross country or similar endurance sports
- Strong knowledge of training techniques, race strategies, and injury prevention
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes
- First aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends
- High school diploma or equivalent; coaching certification preferred
