Executive Search Associate – Private Equity / M&A Focus Location: Birmingham, MI (Onsite) Company: Townsend Search Group Townsend Search Group is growing . We’re seeking a high-caliber Executive Search Associate to join our expanding practice focused on private equity–backed and transaction-driven executive recruitment. This is a hands‑on, entrepreneurial role at the intersection of M&A, executive leadership and private capital investing—supporting middle‑market sponsors, founders, investment teams and portfolio companies across North America. Role Overview The Executive Search Associate will play a pivotal role in the origination, execution and delivery of executive‑level and investment team searches across our core markets. You’ll partner directly with Townsend’s Managing Directors and clients to identify, assess and engage senior leaders who drive value creation in sponsor‑backed environments. Key Responsibilities Research and map target markets, companies and talent pools tied to active and upcoming executive and investment team recruiting efforts Engage directly with senior executives, investors and candidates to evaluate experience, fit and motivations Maintain and expand Townsend’s CRM, network intelligence and candidate pipeline Support end‑to‑end search execution—from kickoff and candidate development to offer negotiation and close Contribute to thought leadership, business development and marketing initiatives in private equity and deal‑driven spaces Augment competitive intelligence data around portfolio company performance, leadership transitions and sponsor activityWork onsite at Townsend’s Birmingham, MI office as part of a collaborative team environment Ideal Background 2–6 years of experience in executive search, investment banking, private equity, management consulting, valuation/transaction services or a related analytical or sourcing capacity Strong interest in M&A, finance and leadership dynamics within sponsor‑backed or founder‑led companies Exceptional communication, organization and analytical skills Team‑oriented, intellectually curious and comfortable in a fast‑paced, performance‑driven environment Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or MBA a plus Why Townsend Direct exposure to private equity investors, C‑suite leaders and transformative businesses High‑impact visibility: work directly with partners and clients, not behind the scenes Clear growth path toward senior recruiter or principal roles with client‑facing responsibility Competitive compensation, flexible work model and a collaborative culture grounded in accountability and trust Seniority level Associate Employment type Full‑time Job function Finance, Management, and Research Industries Staffing and Recruiting, Financial Services, and Business Consulting and Services #J-18808-Ljbffr Townsend Search Group
