Description:

Performs constant and direct observation of a patient with suicidal ideation and/or a patient who is certified for psychiatric hospitalization. Provides constant and direct observation of a patient or patients who are at risk of harming self and/or others. PSAa are also utilized for safety of confused or impulsive patients, really any patient behavior that can impede care delivery

GENERAL PATIENT CARE - Provides one to one, constant and direct observation of patients with suicidal ideation. Provides constant and direct observation of patients who are at risk of causing harm to self and/or others. Assists assigned staff (RNs and/or PCTs) to meet the comfort and hygiene needs of the patient by providing assistance with care services such as toileting activities, ambulation, position changes, hair care, and feeding. Maintains direct patient observation during all patient activities, including but not limited to toileting and transportation.

TRANSPORT - Assists with ambulating patients and with transfer/transport procedures as appropriate.

COMMUNICATION - Performs required documentation and communicates in a competent and effective manner to meet patient and/or family needs and regulatory requirements. Maintains strict confidentiality of patient, employee and department information to ensure patient rights.

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT - Utilizes time and resources effectively to promote quality and cost outcomes.

Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

High School Diploma Required

BLS - American Heart Association

1-2 years related experience preferred

Compensation:

Salary Range: $15.30 - $18.51 per hour

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
