Inpatient Remote Medical Coder - Full or Part-Time (Facility Coding)
Job Summary
As a Certified Inpatient Medical Coder, you will be part of a dynamic team that delivers high-quality coding services to healthcare clients. Your role will focus on reviewing inpatient medical records, ensuring that all diagnoses and procedures are accurately coded in compliance with established guidelines and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Review Medical Records: Analyze inpatient medical records to identify relevant diagnoses and procedures.
Accurate Coding: Assign ICD-10-CM and PCS codes based on clinical documentation, ensuring precision and compliance with guidelines.
Maintain Data Integrity: Ensure that all coded data is accurate and reliable.
Stay Updated: Continuously research and stay informed about changing coding guidelines and industry best practices.
Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare providers, including physicians and nurses, to clarify documentation and gather necessary information.
Quality Assurance: Participate in coding audits and quality improvement initiatives to ensure accuracy and maintain high standards.
Productivity and Efficiency: Meet productivity goals while maintaining coding quality and adhering to deadlines.
Confidentiality: Uphold the highest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality, in full compliance with HIPAA.
Minimum Qualifications
Certification from AHIMA (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P) or AAPC (CPC, COC, CIC).
At least one year of experience in facility inpatient coding.
Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and PCS coding systems, with a strong understanding of guidelines.
Experience using coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Strong analytical skills to interpret complex medical documentation accurately.
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare professionals.
Strong organizational skills to manage time and meet deadlines.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $28.00-$38.00 per hour, with base pay determined by experience, knowledge, and skills.
