Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as an Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician. In this role, you will support our research efforts by providing essential care and husbandry to laboratory animals, ensuring a safe and clean environment for both animals and staff. This is an entry-level position with training provided, making it an excellent opportunity for those interested in entering the field of laboratory animal science.
Key Responsibilities:
•Perform routine animal husbandry tasks, including feeding, watering, and cage cleaning.
•Assist in monitoring the health and well-being of laboratory animals, reporting any unusual behavior or health concerns to senior technicians or supervisors.
•Monitor environmental conditions in the facility.
•Maintain clean and organized animal housing and laboratory areas in accordance with established protocols.
•Prepare and sanitize animal cages, enclosures, and work areas to ensure optimal hygiene standards.
•Follow all safety and regulatory guidelines to support a compliant, humane, and safe working environment.
•Assist with inventory control and replenishment of animal care supplies.
•Adhere to standard operating procedures and laboratory protocols.
Qualifications:
•Education: High school diploma or GED required.
•Experience: No prior laboratory experience necessary; previous animal care or husbandry experience is a plus but not required.
•Skills: Must demonstrate strong attention to detail, dependability, and a compassionate attitude toward animals.
•Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for extended periods.
•Additional Requirements: Must be able to pass background checks and any required medical screening.
