Job Summary


The College of Arts & Sciences seeks a Lecturer to teach undergraduate courses in Political Science at the undergraduate level. Successful candidates are expected to engage students in research and/or creative activities.This non-tenure track faculty position, based in the Department of Government and Sociology, is a 10-month academic year position.

Responsibilities


Faculty - Teaching/Instructing -
Teaching Responsibilities

- Full-time instructional load teaching (5 courses) in areas of expertise within the academic discipline


- Regular course meetings and instruction

- Mentoring Students


- Other teaching responsibilities

Knowledge and ability to convey current philosophies, practices, and theories related to the academic discipline.


Faculty also contribute to the Georgia College core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses. All Georgia College faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non-majors alike. To carry out our public liberal arts mission, we seek faculty with the desire and ability to engage students as they launch their intellectual journey.

Faculty - Professional Development -
Faculty are expected to stay current in their field.

Faculty - Service to Institution -
All faculty are expected to help the department in recruiting majors. Faculty members are expected to attend Department meetings and events.

Required Qualifications


Educational Requirements
Terminal degree in a closely related field.


Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements as stated in C.S. 3.7.1 ( (faculty credentials)).
