About the Opportunity

We are partnering with a well-established, growth-oriented organization seeking a best-in-class Licensed Customs Broker to serve as a senior authority on U.S. import compliance and global trade operations. This role is ideal for a highly respected LCB who wants influence, autonomy, and the ability to elevate customs and trade practices across a complex supply chain.

This position is compliance-focused, strategic, and operationally critical not sales-driven.

Core Responsibilities

Customs Brokerage & Regulatory Compliance

  • Act as the corporate Licensed Customs Broker of record, ensuring full compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations
  • Oversee and execute end-to-end import operations including entry filings, classifications, valuation, country of origin determinations, PGA requirements, and duty optimization
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for CBP, FDA, USDA, EPA, FCC, and other Partner Government Agencies
  • Maintain and enhance compliance programs aligned with CTPAT, ISA, and CBP audit readiness standards

Trade Compliance Leadership

  • Ensure accurate HTS classification across diverse product lines (manufacturing, consumer goods, industrial, or regulated commodities)
  • Manage Free Trade Agreements (USMCA, other FTAs), duty drawbacks reconciliation, and post-entry amendments
  • Conduct internal audits, compliance reviews, and corrective action plans
  • Monitor regulatory changes and proactively advise leadership on risk exposure and mitigation

Operational & Strategic Impact

  • Partner cross-functionally with supply chain, procurement, finance, legal, and logistics teams
  • Develop and document SOPs, compliance manuals, and internal training programs
  • Improve import processes, broker oversight, and data accuracy to reduce delays, penalties, and landed costs
  • Support high-volume, time-sensitive import environments with precision and consistency

Broker & Vendor Oversight

  • Manage relationships with external customs brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics providers
  • Ensure broker performance, accuracy, and compliance with company standards
  • Escalate and resolve complex customs issues, holds, seizures, or audits

Required Qualifications

  • Active U.S. Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) required
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in customs brokerage, import operations, and trade compliance
  • Deep working knowledge of 19 CFR, CBP regulations, HTSUS, PGA requirements, and enforcement practices
  • Proven experience supporting manufacturing and/or complex import environments
  • Strong audit, risk management, and regulatory interpretation skills
  • Experience working directly with CBP officers and regulatory agencies
  • Advanced understanding of import documentation, ACE, ABI systems, and compliance software

Preferred / "Best-in-Class" Experience

  • Experience leading or building compliance programs from the ground up
  • Background in high-volume imports, multi-country sourcing, or regulated commodities
  • Exposure to ISA, CTPAT Tier II/III, or prior CBP audit defense
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on levels
  • Trusted advisor mindset with executive-level communication skills

What Sets This Role Apart

  • True authority and autonomy this is not a clerical or entry-filing role
  • Opportunity to influence company-wide trade and compliance strategy
  • Stable, well-capitalized organization with long-term growth plans
  • Leadership that values compliance as a business advantage, not a checkbox

Ideal Candidate Profile

You are a seasoned, highly respected Licensed Customs Broker who takes pride in precision, ethics, and regulatory excellence. You are calm under pressure, deeply knowledgeable, and sought out for your judgment. You want a role where your license, expertise, and voice truly matter.
