Job Description
The Outpatient Counselor provides professional behavioral health services designed to decrease the impact of behavioral health disorders and other emotional disturbances. The primary responsibility is to provide assessment and treatment; which requires the application of specialized knowledge in the area of behavioral health diagnosis and intervention. Work is conducted on an independent basis but is regularly reviewed to ensure that caseload is properly managed, clients are progressing satisfactorily and treatments and interventions are done in accordance with policies, procedures and regulations. Clinical supervision toward Board licensure will be provided.

Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent oral and written skills to communicate in a professional manner with clients
Strong clinical skills to diagnose and treat behavioral health issues
Attention to detail and able to problem solve and work independently
Ability to work within an electronic medical record system (EMR)
Duties:
Determines client service needs by assessing individual client’s level of functioning, behavioral health symptoms and history
Determine diagnosis and treatment needs
Develop individualized client treatment plans and review frequently
At each session, determines the degree of Danger to Self (DTS) behavior or intention of client
At each session, determines the degree of Danger to Others (DTO) behavior or intention of client
If needed, coordinates the petitioning of a client for a court-ordered evaluation
After each session completes appropriate documentation
Documentation must meet standards and be in compliance set by CPR’s Quality Management Department
Coordinate and collaborate with all clinic support staff to assist clients with various needs
Provide and follow-up on referrals when appropriate
Completes discharge plan when clinically appropriate
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Current, unrestricted license issued by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners: LMSW (Licensed Masters Social Worker), LAC (Licensed Associate Counselor).
Documented post-master’s experience for two (2) years, including experience within the past 24 months providing Outpatient counseling services, or an equivalent of experience, skills and education. Appropriate reference checks by letter or telephone as requested. Background check, as required by state.
Other Items:
Must comply with training and supervision requirements during the first 90 days of employment, and throughout employment.
All licensed, certified or registered staff will be monitored regarding restrictions, Medicare/Medicaid sanctions, criminal violations, subsequent malpractice actions and any settlement made on behalf of the practitioner.
Provide evidence of professional liability insurance coverage in the amount acceptable, minimum $1/$3 million.
All CPR clinical staff are required to apply for, and/or present and maintain, within 7 days of hire, a Class One Fingerprint Clearance card. If application is necessary, a copy must be submitted to include in their personnel file until card is received. Also to provide a copy of the card upon any renewal. This includes any volunteers, interns and administrative staff positions as needed.
Valid driver’s license and auto insurance must be maintained at all times. Must maintain a current CPR/First Aid card.
All expirables to be renewed and submitted 30 days prior to expiration date. It is the duty of the licensee to keep all expirables active and current and report any mandated change to the Board immediately. #IND
