*Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary at the time of hire based on their education, experience, and certifications.

Paramedic Salary Range: $21.07 - $31.63

\n

Senior Professional Paramedic: $22.24 - $33.35

\n

Responsibilities:

    \n
  • Assess the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical procedures. Administer basic and advanced life support to patients at the scene, en route to the hospital or inter-facility transports, and in a pre-hospital setting following federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and standards. In the absence of medical command access use knowledge, skill, experience, and judgment for initiating patient care.

  • Performs proper procedures timely and appropriately to prevent further harm to the patient using basic and advanced life support equipment and devices.
  • \n
  • Communicate with Medical Command personnel to provide information about the situation, arrange reception of victims, provide patients' vital statistics and medical history, or receive instructions for further treatment.
  • \n
  • Administer drugs, orally or by injection, or perform intravenous procedures under a physician's direction.
  • \n
  • Assess and evaluate patients exposed to or contaminated with a hazardous substance and provide appropriate patient care, following protocols and department policies.
  • \n
  • Observe, record, and report to the physician the patient's condition or injury, the treatment provided, and reactions to drugs or treatment.
  • \n
  • Perform emergency diagnostic and treatment procedures, such as stomach suction, airway management, or heart monitoring, as well as other advanced-level patient care modalities approved by the state for use in the Prehospital environment and in the ambulance.
  • \n
  • Provide advanced life support to critically ill or injured patients in adherence to established protocols and standards of care; assess online medical command or other resources when appropriate. Participates in developing and completing research projects.
  • \n
  • Demonstrates competency related to pharmacological interventions.
  • \n
  • Performs daily equipment checks (vehicle, medications).
  • \n
  • Participates in shift reports from off-going crew.
  • \n
  • Ensures safe operation of patient-laden stretcher employing appropriate stretcher discipline at all times. Maintains safe loading, unloading, adjustment of the head of the stretcher, and stretcher movement.

  • Completes all official documentation promptly such as payroll, expense reports, orientation forms, etc.
  • \n
  • Demonstrates skills, competencies, and judgment necessary to provide patient care in any environment; using educational resources that are required or made available.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • \n
  • One year of EMS pre-hospital experience at the advanced life support provider level preferred
  • \n
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull weight up to 100 pounds.
  • \n
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions required.
  • \n
  • Must be eligible to receive medical command authorization by the Medical Director, have reliable transportation, and be willing to travel to any base site as assigned.
  • \n
  • Must be able to successfully complete the prescribed orientation program, including classroom,
  • \n
  • Must work productively and effectively within a complex environment, and handle multiple/changing priorities, and specialized equipment.
  • \n

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Certified Paramedic in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania required.
  • \n
  • A valid Driver's License is required.
  • \n
  • PA Dept of Health recognized Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or Emerg Vehicle Driver (EVD) is required
  • \n
  • CPR is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
