Description


Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm. Additional hours, including weekends and holidays may be required.

An entry level laborer position responsible for daily maintenance of parks, medians, municipal properties, cul-de-sacs, and streetscape.

Example Of Duties


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as dictated by operational necessity.
•Mowing, weed-eating, pruning, and trimming of plant material in City's parks and grounds, medians, cul-de-sacs and Streetscape.
•Cleaning flowerbeds, planting trees, shrubs and flowers
•Maintenance of picnic shelters, gazebos, parking lots, tennis courts, recreational and playground equipment
•Installation and repair of irrigation equipment
•Painting, minor repairs and assembly of park equipment and facilities.
•Operate equipment, tractors & mowers, etc.
•Use power tools to make repairs on buildings and park equipment.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
•Knowledge of proper safety procedures, including signage and traffic management techniques and appropriate personal protective equipment.
•Knowledge of basic landscaping techniques and landscape maintenance.
•Knowledge of the equipment and materials used for lawn care and landscape maintenance.
•Knowledge of the use of basic hand tools and painting equipment.
•Skill in the use of landscaping and lawn care equipment.
•Skill in doing simple mechanical and painting repair.
•Able to do primarily outside laboring work.
•Able to operate equipment that is potentially hazardous.
•Able to communicate effectively with members of the public.
•Able to operate light vehicles and equipment.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
•High school diploma or equivalency certificate highly desirable, but not required.
•Valid Florida driver's license required.
