Job Description

We’re growing—and that means more room to dance, dream, and deliver the high-energy, kid-focused experience River Oaks Dance is known for.

As we prepare to open doors to our  second location , we’re looking for a  dynamic and dedicated Dance Instructor  who’s ready to bring the same passion, positivity, and professionalism that define our studio’s incredible culture.

This might be the role for you if:

  • You LOVE children and want to pass on your passion for dance
  • You like to occasionally get your hands dirty and help keep our studio in tip-top shape
  • You are excited and willing to learn new ideas and teaching methods
  • You can embrace and promote our mission
  • You delight in the successes of others
  • You can work in a fast-paced and noisy workplace
  • You are a go-getter, self-starter
  • You are comfortable learning and implementing new ways of teaching
  • You can commit to preparing for classes, providing learning tools, and adapting to different learning styles to promote an inclusive learning environment
  • You want a pivotal role in an organization and making a positive impact on children and youth
  • You are fun and friendly and like pitching in to help with activities and performances

This is not the role for you if:

  • You’re looking for short-term, something quick and easy, we’re looking for someone to stay with us for the long haul to see the results of the work being implemented
  • You don’t like being stretched out of your comfort zone
  • You are a procrastinator and make excuses for not getting work done
  • You only want to work with advanced or competition dancers
  • You do not like to follow a set curriculum for your classes
  • You don’t have the time to prep for classes at home, attend staff meetings, or trainings outside of regularly scheduled classes, or arrive early before class
  • You prefer to shout or use harsh techniques when teaching

Qualifications

The candidate must:

  • have at least five years of dance training
  • possess dance teaching experience, a degree in dance, college credits in dance, and/or extensive training in dance including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop or modern dance styles
  • have a polished and professional appearance
  • excellent verbal communication skills
  • our studio presents our students for ABT exams. Therefore, any instructor hired for our leveled classes must be a certified instructor in the ABT® NTC.

Responsibilities

  • Implement a curriculum (syllabus, music, class structure) provided by the studio
  • Choreograph age-appropriate dances using curriculum
  • Progress students in every class
  • Attend staff meetings, events and performances
  • Responsible for the safety of the school assets (human, financial, and physical) and dancers entrusted in your care (watching who is picking up children, ensuring children don't leave without an adult or go into parking lot alone)
  • Take correct student attendance
  • Clean studio after classes
  • Report all incidents, accidents, and concerns arising during classes or performances to the Director.

This isn’t just another teaching gig—it’s a chance to become part of something meaningful and make a lasting impact in a community where  we love what we do, have fun, support each other, and never stop learning.
