This is an entry level underwriting position Summary: Under moderate supervision and following standard procedures with some independent judgment, reviews insurance applications to evaluate and classify each risk to determine acceptability, and monitors existing business in order to verify its continued acceptability by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Reviews and evaluates insurance applications, renewals and endorsements to, within defined authority, approve, modify or decline risks. Determines and authorizes reinsurance, if necessary. Communicates with agents and internal staff to collect necessary information to perform risk assessment. Builds and maintains positive working relationships with agents and internal staff; assists and responds to inquiries by telephone, correspondence, and agency visits. Maintains profitable business in territory through proper selection, pricing, and monitoring of business. May serve as a member of project teams, contributing to the achievement of project objectives. Performs other duties as assigned.
