Join us. **Job Description** **AECOM** is seeking a Planning Intern to be based in Phoenix, AZ. _This position is expected to begin as soon as possible._ **The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:** + Conducting research, data reviews, and analysis to inform transportation decision-making and determine potential environmental effects + Interprets and compares findings of relevant studies for compliance with local, state, and Federal requirements, standard procedures, and client expectations. + Assist with the preparation of comprehensive plans, transportation reports or memorandums + Collects a variety of technical and statistical data and assists with the preparation of reports and maps on topics, such as census information, land use, and the natural environment. + Assist with GIS mapping tasks and analysis of socioeconomic, land use and development, environmental impacts, travel behavior, and transportation demand concepts + Develop supporting figures using a variety of graphical tools including Adobe products, mapping software, Excel charts, and/or PowerPoint + Support research and technical analyses on land use and multimodal planning + Supports agency stakeholder and public engagement efforts. + Good verbal and written communication skills + Work in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment. + Assists with other duties assigned by senior staff and/or Project Managers. **Qualifications** **Minimum Requirements:** + Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Planning, Geography, Science, Public Finance or related fields and must have completed at least three years of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree and plan to continue with the Master's degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor's degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship. **Preferred Qualifications :** + Strong technical writing skills + Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint + Proficiency with Geographic Information Systems, including ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, Google Earth, and/or other geographic software + Self-motivated individual with strong organizational skills + Coursework and/or project experience in transit service planning, finance, transportation planning, GIS and/or data analysis + Experience in preparing graphics and visuals + Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and graphical skills **Additional Information** + Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications.
