Job Description

Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Government, Public Affairs, Communications or a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience. 4 years of experience working on technology policy issues within government, political communications, political campaigns, public affairs firms, think tanks, public interest groups, law, or relevant industry associations. Preferred Qualifications Experience with internet, technology, energy, and security policy. Demonstrated communications skills and knowledge of the government and policy landscape across the U.S. Ability to operate in a fast‑paced environment and keep multiple priorities moving at the same time. Team player with the ability to exercise good judgment in a rapidly changing and sometimes stressful environment. Excellent project management skills. About The Job In this role, you will build and maintain policy materials and help craft policy narratives for Google’s engagement with the U.S. Administration and Congress on critical tech policies. You will create external messages for tech policy discussions that impact Google’s business. In addition, you will track the relevant federal developments in Congress and the Administration including hearings, bill developments and regulatory filings. You will coordinate with cross‑functional partners to support Google’s public policy team and support the team writing clear internal updates on policy developments communicating complex technology policy issues. Google Client Services, an entity within the Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team, manages the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third‑parties in the formation of public policy in the United States. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspectives with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the Internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect. The US base salary range for this full‑time position is $113,000‑$162,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities Develop collateral, including advocacy materials and executive briefing documents to advance Google’s public policy objectives with the primary goal of promoting tech policy that supports Google’s business strategy. Build and maintain policy messaging and materials for use with bipartisan political stakeholders to educate them on Google’s products and policy priorities. Work closely and collaboratively with teams across Google’s Public Policy (GAPP), cross‑functional teams and product areas to align on policy objectives. Support Google’s government affairs team in preparation for meetings, briefings, and other engagements with government officials. Track regulatory proposals to inform our messaging approach to deliver policy outcomes for the business. Monitor congressional activities, including key hearings, bill introductions and endorsements, markups, and incoming congressional correspondence.
