The President & CEO will provide leadership, direction, and management, as well as identify and secure resources to build on decades of success and elevate the organization as a leading multi-disciplinary performing arts entity. This role oversees the artistic vision, growth, and development of the organization, working closely with the Board of Directors, staff, venue partners, and the community.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Strategic Vision and Program Vitality: Further the organization’s mission and values, including centering racial equity. Elevate arts as a catalyst for creativity and innovation in the Boston area. Develop strategic community engagement plans, oversee artistic programming, and foster artist relationships to attract diverse audiences.
  • Revenue Generation and Audience Engagement: Expand marketing efforts, enhance public relations, and develop fundraising strategies with staff and Board members. Build relationships with cultural and government agencies to support financial sustainability and audience growth.
  • Engaged Governance: Collaborate with the Board, manage governance processes, and support Board development. Ensure racial equity is integrated into governance and operations.
  • Community Participation and Public Visibility: Develop partnerships with community organizations and Boston-based artists to ensure accessible performances and community engagement.
  • Team, Financial, and Technological Leadership: Lead daily operations, manage staff, oversee budgets, and adopt new technologies to enhance organizational effectiveness and audience engagement.
  • Traits and Characteristics: The ideal candidate is a visionary, dynamic leader with strong management skills, community engagement ability, and a strategic mindset. They should be collaborative, resilient, and committed to diversity and inclusion.
  • Qualifications: Minimum 10 years of senior management experience in a reputable arts organization, proven leadership in programming, organizational management, and fundraising.
