Job Description

Purpose and Scope of Position

The Buyer is a key contributor to supporting the aggressive growth goals of the company by ensuring timely , reliable, and cost-effective procurement of materials, components, and supplies. This mid-level role maintains optimal inventory levels, engages in supplier sourcing and negotiation, evaluates supplier performance, and provides timely , accurate information to internal stakeholders. The Buyer takes ownership of assigned product categories, supports new product initiatives, and partners closely with Production, Sales, Planning, Engineering, and Leadership teams to enable operational success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor inventory levels and analyze usage and trends to forecast material needs for both direct and indirect categories.
  • Issue and manage purchase orders to maintain appropriate stock levels, ensuring alignment with production and sales requirements.
  • Conduct proactive follow-up with suppliers to confirm delivery dates, resolve delays, and maintain continuity of supply.
  • Source materials, components, and products through domestic and international suppliers to meet quality, cost, and service expectations.
  • Evaluate and onboard new suppliers; maintain approved supplier lists including primary and secondary options.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, contracts, and service agreements to achieve cost-effective and sustainable sourcing.
  • Assess supplier performance using measurable KPIs (quality, delivery, responsiveness, cost) and collaborate on improvement plans when necessary.
  • Support cross-functional teams-Production, Planning, Product Development, Engineering, and Sales-to resolve supply issues, launch new products, and respond to changing business needs.
  • Identify and participate in cost-reduction initiatives and continuous improvement efforts within the procurement function.
  • Provide timely , professional responses to inquiries from internal teams.
  • Facilitate invoice and pricing discrepancy resolution in partnership with Accounting .
  • Communicate potential supply risks and propose mitigation options proactively.

Essential Competencies

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Experience working within an ERP system (Infor Syteline preferred).
  • Ability to interpret demand, usage, and supply data to guide purchasing decisions.
  • Reliable attendance and consistent on-time performance.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, procurement, or a related function.
  • Experience with both domestic and international suppliers preferred.

Education and Training Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business , Supply Chain, Accounting, or related field required .

Preferred Skills, Experience, Certifications

  • Industry-recognized Supply Chain or Purchasing certifications (e.g., CPSM, CPIM, Lean/Six Sigma) are a strong plus.
  • Experience supporting supplier evaluations, negotiations, or contract management.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing environments is helpful but not required .
  • Bilingual (Spanish or Mandarin) is beneficial.

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional travel (<10%) for supplier visits, audits, or trade events.

Language Requirements

  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.

Work Environment

  • Office workstation in West Jordan, Utah.

  • Ability to work onsite at SnugZ USA headquarters.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with minimal supervision.
