## The Opportunity
Are you an experienced accounting professional looking to make an impact in a dynamic and value-driven organization? This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting expertise who is eager to expand their skills while working in a flexible, remote/hybrid environment.
We're looking for a skilled Senior Accountant (CPA) to support our financial operations. The selected candidate will primarily work remotely but should be available for occasional in-office work in Stafford, VA, as needed.
## Key Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
- Analyze and reconcile expenditure and revenue accounts.
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Support the month-end and year-end closing processes and review with the Controller.
- Monitor income and expenditures, ensuring accurate data entry in QuickBooks 2024 (Desktop Version).
- Oversee client invoicing, billing, and receivables tracking.
- Prepare materials for external audits.
- Process and record multi-state payroll transactions and related reporting.
- Assist with fixed asset accounting and financial reporting.
- Provide support for budget questions, proper expenditure coding, and accounting documentation.
- Maintain payroll records and track PTO accrual for accuracy.
- Prepare and distribute 1099s and payroll tax reports.
- Organize and maintain financial records on the company's secure server.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and senior leadership.
- Work independently in a remote environment, utilizing Microsoft Teams for communication.
## What We're Looking For
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
- 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in government contracting.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and experience recording financial transactions.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Proactive and solutions-oriented with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks 2024 (Desktop Version), Microsoft Office Suite, and cloud-based accounting software.
