Job Description

Senior Software Engineer - Derivatives

FalconX is a pioneering team of operators, investors, and builders committed to revolutionizing institutional access to the crypto markets. Operating at the intersection of traditional finance and cutting-edge technology, FalconX addresses the industry's foremost challenges: Navigating the digital asset market can be complex and fragmented, with limited products and services that support trading strategies, structures, and liquidity found in conventional financial markets. As a comprehensive solution for all digital asset strategies from start to scale, FalconX operates as the connective tissue empowering clients with seamless navigation through the ever-evolving cryptocurrency landscape.

FalconX is building the world's smartest institutional brokerage for digital assets. FalconX is one of the fastest-growing startups in FinTech. We deliver best-in-class pricing and execution for institutional traders and investors. Our goal is to scale the digital asset ecosystem with prime brokerage solutions that meet the reliability and performance standards of global financial markets.

How We Work
  • Data-driven: Every product, growth, and engineering decision is grounded in data.
  • Execution speed: Our industry moves quickly; so must we.
  • Diversity of thought: We challenge assumptions through debate and varied perspectives.

FalconX is headquartered in Silicon Valley with offices in New York, Bangalore, London, and Singapore.

The Team

We are builders with entrepreneurial DNA. Our backgrounds include Google, LinkedIn, JUMP, Citadel, Goldman Sachs, Carnegie Mellon, IIT, and more. We are backed by Accel, Flybridge, and Lightspeed.

The Role & Impact

You'll focus on scaling FalconX's Derivatives product. This means designing and operating systems that support a global trading platform at scale. You'll work with Product, our OTC Desk, and Trade Operations to shape middle- and back-office systems that are resilient, auditable, and built for speed.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and evolve derivatives systems, infrastructure, and processes.
  • Architect scalable and performant services for high-throughput institutional trading.
  • Partner with product, platform, frontend, and data teams to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Debug, optimize, and harden transactional systems under load.
  • Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code.
  • Break down complex work for junior engineers, review designs, and provide technical mentorship.
  • Continuously identify technical debt and implement improvements with long-term maintainability in mind.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in Python or Go.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, MySQL, Redis, Kafka/SQS, and Kubernetes, with an understanding of trade-offs across technologies.
  • Strong grasp of systems fundamentals: concurrency, multithreading, and multiprocessing.
  • Experience building and operating high-scale, high-availability systems.
  • Clear written and verbal communication around technical design and trade-offs.
  • Comfort working in a fast, iterative development environment.

Bonus Points

  • Knowledge of derivatives products: options, exotic options, futures, perpetual swaps, structured products.
  • Strong CS fundamentals (Bachelor's or equivalent in Computer Science).
  • Exposure to frontend technologies (React, JavaScript/TypeScript).

Prior experience at an early-stage product startup.
