Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Patient Care Technician – KP 12 Surgical Transplant – Night Shift (37.5 hours). Responsibilities Assist the professional nurse in the care of patients and families by completing assigned patient care tasks; provide competent, safe, and compassionate care with emphasis on understanding challenges faced by hospitalization, procedures, or diagnostic tests. Support the unit in maintenance and safety of supplies, equipment, and the environment; demonstrate core values in all aspects of job performance. Demonstrate knowledge of the unit’s Quality and Performance Improvement program, including patient satisfaction measures. Assist the nurse in reviewing and implementing corrective actions regarding patient/family concerns and satisfaction. Recognize personal limitations and request assistance as needed; discuss educational concerns and goals with the Nurse Manager or appropriate leadership. Pursue learning resources for identified needs and participate in orientation and unit meetings. Complete annual mandatory education; be aware of the needs and behaviors of different patient age groups and cultures. Support unit activities and assist in emergency situations as directed. Utilize specialized skills and safety when carrying out patient care tasks such as phlebotomy, fingerstick blood glucose testing, and electrocardiograms. Adhere to infection prevention and control standards; assist in data collection activities as assigned. Assist in maintaining patient safety and comfort; support admission, transfer, and discharge procedures per unit operations. Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and health care team members; observe patient behavior and escalate observations to the registered nurse as needed. Provide assistance to patients with activities of daily living and help prepare patients for scheduled appointments. Perform tasks delegated by registered professionals, including providing direct assistance to team members and ensuring patient environment and equipment are clean, safe, and orderly. Ensure necessary equipment and supplies are present in patient rooms and on the unit. Minimum Qualifications To qualify, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent. PCT certification upon hire or transfer is required. BLS certification (American Heart Association) or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification is required on entry. Competencies include: strong English communication skills; computer skills; proficiency in venipuncture and phlebotomy. Qualified candidates must communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. Additional Information NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the NYC Salary Transparency Law. The salary range for this role is $53,444.80 annually. Actual salaries depend on factors including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. This range does not include bonuses, incentives, differential pay, or other compensation or benefits.
