Job Description
Reports to the store's non-book manager and assists the entire non-book staff in the daily execution of tasks.

Essential Functions: - Assists the Non-Book Manager in executing the overall non-book business of the store (vendor meetings and buys, receiving, stocking, displays, etc.).
- Assists the Non-Book Manager in the paying of all non-book invoices/credit cards. Maintains credit memos and credit balances with all store non-book vendors. Frequently contacts vendors to settle any discrepancies or billing questions. Periodically performs product returns and call tags when necessary. Assists in paperwork for product reorders.
- Assists in executing the graduation business.
- Assists in shipping items and web orders whenever needed using UPS WorldShip software.
- Under the guidance of store managers, prepare reports using store data. Uses Excel competently and efficiently. Maintains reports regarding web and phone order business. Prepares sales reports in preparation for vendor meetings. Maintains report files electronically.
- Assists the Non-Book Manager and Receiving Clerk in receiving and processing shipments.
- Performs general administrative functions including responding to messages, managing appointments, responding to customer queries, booking meeting rooms, posting campus notices, filing documents, etc.
- Assists the entire staff in maintaining the appearance of the store. As needed, restock any areas of the store as delegated.
- Operates the store cash registers. Serves as a cashier when needed.
- Knowledgeable in all store department product lines. Serves as an effective part of the store selling team during key selling events. Provides excellent customer service to all store patrons.
- Serves as a part of the buying team for apparel and general merchandise. Provides input for buyers in the supplies, sundries, technology, and greeting card departments. Attends 2-3 annual tradeshows/vendor meetings out of state.
- Assists in the fulfillment of store web and phone orders. Assists in customer relations for incomplete orders, backorders, declined payments, returns, and exchanges. Assists with maintaining current products, layout, and assortments on the store website.
- Maintains filing systems for all product orders (new orders and reorders).
- Assists the Non-Book Manager in maintaining supporting systems needed to work with non-book vendors.
- As needed, assists in the receiving and shelving of textbooks. When needed, assists the Book Manager in the paying of book invoices. Cross trains in the receiving of book orders.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with the expectation to close the University Store one day a week or as directed by the supervisor. Weekends and nights will be required for academic events.
Minimum Qualifications: - High school diploma required
- Strong sense of organization, strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to effectively multi-task.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Physical Requirements :

- Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
- Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
Working Conditions: The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
(as in typical office or administrative work).
Types of Work: Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
