UX Task Lead

We are seeking an experienced UX Lead to join ORNL’s newly formed Design Systems team, which is pivotal in establishing and maintaining a cohesive design language and system across ORNL applications and platforms.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the vision, strategy, and roadmap of the design system.
• Collaborate closely with UX, Engineering, Ops, and Leadership to ensure alignment with business goals and user needs.
• Lead the creation of key design system deliverables including the style guide, layout grids, component library, and guidance documentation.
• Establish a process for governance and deploying enhancements.
• Continuously collect feedback from stakeholders to improve the design system, ensuring its consistency and scalability across all products and platforms.
• Provide guidance on usage and implementation, ensuring adherence to established standards and practices.
• Drive adoption, consistency, and coherence across the enterprise through design system evangelization.

Requirements:

• A BS in design, human computer interaction, computer science or a related field of study and five (5) or more years of related experience is required for consideration. An overall combination of equivalent experience may be considered.
• 7+ years of proven experience, having a focus on enterprise platforms and systems.
• Proficiency in Figma, as well as version control systems.
• Experience with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and drive consensus.

• Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of successfully leading design system and/or enterprise platform initiatives and driving adoption across an organization.
• Ease with communicating user experience decisions to various audiences.
• Cross-discipline proficiency and understanding of modern digital experiences.
• Experience working and collaborating in a dynamic, rapid-growth environment.
