Job Summary

The Warehouse Operator will be responsible for loading and unloading compressed gas and liquid cylinders, conducting cylinder inspections, and performing maintenance tasks, including cleaning, valve replacement, and testing for leaks. The operator will also use equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, and chain hoists to safely handle materials. This role requires adherence to safety protocols and standard operating procedures.

 

Job Description

  • Operate forklifts and safely load/unload compressed gas and liquid cylinders from delivery vehicles.
  • Identify, sort, and palletize cylinders for refilling and handling.
  • Inspect cylinders prior to filling, following standard operating procedures.
  • Complete activity and deficiency reports as necessary.
  • Replace safety valves and labels on cylinders as needed.
  • Perform general warehouse maintenance, including sweeping and cleaning.
  • Perform painting and other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Replace pallet straps as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean work area and assist with general housekeeping.
  • Follow safety protocols in line with company policies.

 

Skills Required

  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong communication skills to present information to customers, clients, and team members.
  • Basic mathematical skills to perform simple calculations, such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving materials weighing up to 60 lbs, with the aid of material handling equipment for heavier loads.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle materials, reach, climb, kneel, or crouch.
  • Must regularly lift up to 60 lbs and move over 125 lbs with material handling equipment.
  • Must have specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

 

Education/Training/Certifications

  • High school diploma or GED required;
  • OR two to five years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with forklifts and handling compressed gases preferred.
  • Basic welding knowledge or experience is a plus.
  • Customer service experience is desirable.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Shi f t: M-F 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM CST
  • Exposed to outdoor weather conditions and occasional moving mechanical parts.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • PPE requirements: Metatarsal boots and safety glasses.
