Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Project Arborist to support the MSMEC Hazard Tree Removal Project following the HPCC Fire. This role involves evaluating the health and stability of wildfire-damaged trees, coordinating tree removal operations, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and project guidelines. Working closely with landowners, field crews, and project managers, the arborist will play a vital role in mitigating risks to powerlines and surrounding areas.
The ideal candidate will have technical expertise in arboriculture, practical experience in tree removal along powerlines and electrical infrastructure, and a commitment to environmental safety. Strong communication skills and the ability to work in outdoor settings are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
· Tree Health and Stability Assessments: Evaluate the structural integrity and health of wildfire-damaged and hazardous trees to identify removal priorities.
· Safety Compliance: Ensure that all tree removal activities meet industry safety standards and best practices, minimizing risks during operations.
· Field Collaboration: Work closely with tree removal crews to guide cutting, pruning, and disposal processes effectively.
· Landowner Communication: Engage with private property owners to explain tree removal procedures, address concerns, and ensure mutual understanding.
· Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of tree assessments, removal activities, and safety checks. Share data with project managers as required.
Qualifications:
· Certification as an Arborist (ISA or equivalent) preferred; equivalent experience in arboriculture or tree care may be considered. In lieu of having an Arborist Certification, a successful applicant must have the equivalent experience in arboriculture, tree care, or similar field and be able to gain that Certification within 60 days of beginning work.
· Strong knowledge of tree biology, health assessment techniques, and tree removal best practices.
· Familiarity with equipment used in tree removal, including chainsaws, rigging, aerial lifts, and other equipment.
· Effective communication skills for working with landowners, team members, and stakeholders.
· Experience working in outdoor environments, particularly in wildfire-affected areas or similar settings.
· Bilingual skills in Spanish and English are highly desirable.
Physical Requirements:
· Physical Stamina: Ability to climb, hike, and perform fieldwork in rugged terrain and high altitudes while handling equipment.
· Outdoor Readiness: Comfortable working in diverse weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
· Flexibility: Willingness to travel within the project area and attend occasional after-hours or weekend meetings.
Application Process:
Interested candidates should submit their resume and a cover letter outlining their relevant experience and approach to community outreach to bracher@t-d-services.com by February 1, 2025.
