Job Description
CDL - Engineering Tire Test Driver Leadership Responsibility: Though this position has no direct supervisory role, strong interpersonal skill are needed to provide support for internal and external Engineers, Test Analysts, and fellow Test Drivers.
Job Summary: Will safely perform designed tire tests reporting prescribed known and unknown deficiencies during road testing of a variety of tires on a variety of passenger and commercial vehicles.
Performs various durability and, accelerated life and regulatory tests including General Durability, Accelerated Durability, and EPA Mileage Accumulation Tests. Will make observations of vehicle performance, ride, quality, and component failures. Records observations in logs or electronic data systems as requested. Works under the general direction of the Shift Supervisor and/or receive direction from the TPG Site Manager.
Key Results Areas Observation / Reporting:
Completes pre-trip and post trip inspections and data logging procedures, assuring accurate and complete recording of test observations, written legibly, and in clear and concise language. Advises Vehicle Mechanics of any mechanical problems, which could present a hazard to other Test Drivers. Ensures that all tests are performed according to specified test procedures.
Skill Development: Participate in training courses provided by Technical Professionals Group or its Client to enhance the employee's skills. This will include, but is not limited to, Driver safety training and other training deemed necessary by the TPG Client.
Testing: Perform any fleet testing as required. Drive in all seasons and various weather conditions. Must be able to accurately perform various durability, accelerated life and regulatory tests in accordance with prescribed procedures. Ensure complete, accurate and consistent reporting, both written and verbal.
Safety: Perform all work in accordance within the Goodyear Proving Ground Safety Policies. Accumulate tire tests safely and at proper speeds to avoid accidents/incidents.
Confidentiality: Will be exposed to confidential material such as prototype tires and documents. Must insure that said confidential material and documents are kept secure. Insure that all know test results and other pertinent information learned from this occupation remain secure from family, friends and outside sources.
Job Specifications Required: A high school diploma or GED certificate.
A valid CDL Class A driving license.
Must be able to safely maneuver and operate all types of motor vehicles, which included automobiles, commercial trucks, earth-moving vehicles and all-terrain vehicles. These requirements may require on-site training furnished by the Client.
Must have the physical and mental dexterity to handle all size and weight of wheel assemblies and to be able to safely handle tools required to mount and dismount wheel assemblies.
Coordination of normal mental dexterity and visual attention. Must have good vision, hearing and motor skills, validated by a current Commercial Driver Medical Card.
Requires mental and visual attention for sustained periods of time in conditions that could include temperature extremes and wet conditions.
Must demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
Must demonstrate good team skills, and the ability to work with and learn from others.
Must be willing to travel off site. Occasional overnight travel may be deemed necessary. Technical Professionals Group
