About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chair for the Department of Computer Science. The successful candidate will be a tenured full professor with a strong research background, a history of external funding, and a commitment to the highest standards of research, service, and teaching. The Chair will be responsible for providing leadership to departmental faculty, managing the Department's fiscal resources, and promoting inclusive excellence. This role involves overseeing the Department's academic program, championing student success, and working closely with the Dean to enhance the Department's research profile and visibility. The ideal candidate will have a robust research agenda, excellent communication and people skills, and a proven track record in transparent decision-making, shared governance, and fostering a culture of collaboration. Candidates for the Chair position must hold a doctoral degree in a discipline related to the CS curriculum and have a strong record of outstanding teaching and junior faculty mentoring. Administrative experience in managing personnel, finances, and strategic growth is essential, as is a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Chair will also be expected to have a strong work ethic, the ability to multitask, and a recent background in academic leadership or an administrative role. The position offers a unique opportunity to lead a dynamic Department with a focus on data science, AI, software engineering, and cybersecurity, and to work in a collaborative environment that values consensus and cooperation.
