Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive External Affairs Director to join our team and lead our efforts in establishing and nurturing relationships with local and state level administration in Texas. The primary focus of this role will be to garner support for broadband projects by engaging with key community stakeholders, including elected officials and broadband offices. Although this is a remote position, 60-70% travel should be expected throughout the Resound Networks footprint.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategies to build and maintain relationships with local and state government officials, agencies, and key decision-makers.
- Advocate for broadband projects by effectively communicating their importance and benefits to relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify opportunities for partnership and funding support for broadband initiatives.
- Stay updated on legislative and regulatory developments related to broadband access and advocate for favorable policies.
- Assist in the development of grant proposals and manage the reporting process for funded projects.
- Represent the organization at relevant meetings, conferences, and events to promote our broadband initiatives and build networks within the community.
- Serve as a liaison between the organization and government entities to facilitate project implementation and address any issues or concerns that may arise.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in political science, public administration, communications, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of the inner workings of the Texas government and political landscape, ideally with existing relationships within the Governor's office and the Texas Broadband office.
- Proven experience in government relations, advocacy, or public affairs, with a track record of successful engagement with government officials and agencies.
- Familiarity with grant processes and reporting requirements, preferably in the context of broadband or infrastructure projects.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative mindset with a passion for driving positive change and expanding broadband access to underserved communities.
