Job Description

The  Family Coach  is integral in helping TFC pursue our mission of  breaking multigenerational cycles of childhood trauma  through the implementation of a customized suite of evidence-based, age-appropriate, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practices in community, correctional, school, and virtual settings. This position requires forward thinking, ability to be proactive, and a strength-based and trauma-informed approach to program delivery including embracing curiosity to learn and grow personally and professionally, greeting challenges with flexibility and a collaborative approach, and pursuing excellence in work products and community presence.

Hours: up to 20 hours per week

Compensation: $23/hour

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field; 2+ yrs. direct client service delivery; Masters Preferred

JOB OVERVIEW:

This position reports to the Director, Family Resilience. As a member of the program team, this contracted Family Coach is responsible for facilitating virtual group coaching sessions, supporting parents/caregivers’ engagement in program services, coordinating some service referrals for group participants, and monitoring participant’s progress on a weekly basis with the possibility of communicating with external partners about their progress. Family Coaches are expected to embrace and demonstrate core organizational values and adapt to diversity and the cultural contexts of individuals within the variety of communities served, both demographically and geographically. 

CURRENT SCHEDULE NEEDS:

The following list of group times is what we are currently hiring for:

· (Virtual) Mondays 5:30-7pm *TBD

· (Virtual) Wednesdays 1-2:30pm

· (Virtual) Thursdays 5:30pm-7pm

· (Virtual) Saturdays 10:30am-12pm

· Hours for completion of data for each group are flexible and can be adjusted

· Virtual or In-person attendance at Department Meetings every second Tuesday of the month from 12:30-2pm (as needed for relevant updates)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Demonstrate knowledge of and acts according to Child and Elder Abuse Reporting laws.

· Develop appropriate relationships and maintain appropriate boundaries with assigned parents/caregivers.

· Administer designated parenting and program assessment tools to increase participant engagement, aid in identification of needs and progress towards goals.

· Provide a customized suite of evidence-based, age-appropriate, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive practices in group and/or individual format to support identified needs determined through assessments.

· Work alongside Family Resilience team members to facilitate community referral and linkage opportunities as requested by group participants.

  • Develop/maintain respectful and supportive relationships with key partners and stakeholders such as DCS, Safe Baby Court Coordinators, CASA, and other referral agencies seeking updates on program participants.

· Maintain and implement appropriate processes related to the Release of Client Information – such as gathering accurate ROI at intake, updating as needed, referencing when information is requested, collaborating with colleagues who may also be supporting client. 

· Complete and submit timely and thorough documentation on each required service according to contract and/or program requirements.

· Input all required data into Salesforce related to group participants’ intake, session attendance, and any referrals made.

· Participate in training and development relevant to the role of Family Coach; including, but not limited to: ACES’s, strength-based, cultural competency, and trauma-informed approaches to service delivery.

· Participation in department/staff meetings, as needed, regarding relevant updates.

· Meet bi-weekly with supervisor to review group dynamics, concerns, progress, data, and referral needs.

· Demonstrate innovation through knowledge of adult learning strategies and use of technological tools to enhance the learning experience and increase engagement in a virtual setting.

· Ensure all program activities operate within TFC’s policies including sensitivity and inclusiveness regarding cultural, religious, ethnic, gender and sexual diversity, and comply with relevant legislation and professional standards.

· Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Education, or a related field; 2+ years direct service delivery preferred*
  • Bilingual in Spanish or other languages  preferred*
  • Must be a Tennessee resident
  • Proficient to Advanced skill level in Zoom (scheduling/invitations, screen sharing, chat, troubleshooting audio & video settings, background settings, adding/removing guests, managing participant permissions – muting, integrating interactive tools – polling, Q&A)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite – specifically Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Outlook – manage email inbox effectively & in a timely manner; manage and keep shared calendar up to date
  • Teams – manage responses in a timely manner, set notifications and alerts appropriately
  • PowerPoint – comfortable with sharing slides in presenter view, showing videos embedded in PowerPoint, and locating presenter notes while in Zoom.
  • SharePoint – can navigate SharePoint folders and documents comfortably and have an understanding of shared and collaborative docs
  • Intermediate understanding of Salesforce, or similar Client Relationship Management software used for data input and management
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in Adverse Childhood Experiences/Adverse Community Environments (ACEs)
  • Ability to effectively interact, communicate, and collaborate with people from diverse racial, cultural, religious, or gender identifying backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate cultural and linguistic competencies, value diversity, and an ability for self-awareness.
  • Successful background and criminal clearance required and maintained.

This is a  contracted position that requires evenings, weekends, and some in-person commitments throughout the course of the contract. Travel for one in-person group per week and department meetings is required. Compensation is commensurate with experience and organizational budget.
