JOB TITLE : Billing Specialist

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES :

Responsible for obtaining managed care authorizations and verifying patient insurance benefits.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

• Determining when authorization is needed
• Requesting authorization from PCP/Health Plan/other
• Insuring authorizations are up to date
• Entering authorizations into EHR
• Scanning and linking authorizations to the patient's chart
• Maintains optimal patient, referring physician and insurance company satisfaction
• Analyzing utilization data from health plans' claims as required
• Answer incoming telephone calls and directing them to the appropriate department
• Processing insurance verification for pending procedures
• Patient Account follow up
• Posting payments to patient accounts
• Other items as assigned by manager(s)
