Department Summary This position is housed within the California Center for Population Research at UCLA (CCPR), which is an interdisciplinary community of scholars committed to advancing research on the demographic and social determinants of health and understanding how health influences population dynamics and socioeconomic well-being. CCPR fosters innovative research by providing a collaborative environment designed to enhance the quality of scholarly work and its impact, including research and computing resources and pre- and post-award grant services. The community of scholars at CCPR is dynamic and growing, with over 150 faculty affiliates. Over 50 PhD students, post-doctoral fellows, visiting scholars, and research staff are in residence at the Center. Position Summary CCPR is seeking a Research Manager, who will be responsible for managing all aspects of two projects, M-CARES ( and LIFE-M ( and potentially others as funding evolves. The ideal candidate has a proven track record in managing project staff, experience with IRB and data use agreements, and a research interest in one or both reproductive health and the early-life and intergenerational determinants of health and aging. They will work hand-in-glove with PIs and project leadership to keep projects moving forward. Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Qualifications Relevant Experience Applicants must also have at least two years of relevant experience; experience gained in school counts toward this requirement. Three to five years of professional post-bacc experience is preferred. (Required) Demonstrated experience in managing client relationships, managing projects independently, meeting project timelines, and communicating with internal and external stakeholders in a productive and timely manner (Required) Ability to take initiative, problem solve, and manage projects with minimal supervision, including strong time management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines (Required) Attention to detail and ability to organize and document workflow (Required) Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including exceptional writing and presentation skills (Required) Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including a very strong ability to evaluate and adapt to complex situations and identify multiple options for resolution (Required) Ability to work discreetly with sensitive and confidential data (Required) Experience with qualitative research methods (Preferred) Experience working in an academic or think-tank environment (Preferred) Substantive knowledge of quantitative methods and causal inference (Preferred) Substantive knowledge or experience with a research interest in one or both reproductive health and the early-life and intergenerational determinants of health and aging (Preferred) Experience supervising people (Preferred) Experience analyzing data in Stata, R, or Python (Preferred) Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations Bachelor's Degree in public policy, economics, political science, public health, education, business administration, or other social science and/or equivalent experience/training (Required) Master's Degree A Master’s degree in one of the relevant fields is preferred.
