Position Description The Town of Marana is seeking a
Software Developer Intern to work in the Information Technology Department. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on learning experience in the field of software development. This internship offers the opportunity to apply academic knowledge in a professional setting, working alongside experienced technical staff.
While the Department will accommodate class schedules or other activities, the Intern is expected to work a minimum of 15 hours per week to be scheduled during normal business hours: M-F 8:00 am - 5:00pm. Hours should be scheduled in blocks of at least three consecutive hours to ensure efficiency and consistency. The anticipated start date will be 08/25/2025 with an anticipated end date of 12/10/2025, with potential for renewal for the Spring 2026 semester (01/14/2026 - 05/06/2026).
Pursuant to the Marana Town Code, Sections 3-1-2(D) and 3-1-3(B), and the current Salary Schedule implemented by the Town Manager, the position of Intern is defined as a temporary position. Temporary positions are at-will employees and employment that may be terminated upon the will of the employer or employee at any time with or without cause.
Hiring Rate: Undergraduate - $15.85/hour / Graduate School - $16.85/hour
Examples of Duties - Under direct supervision of professional staff: Assists in developing software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes.
- Under direct supervision of professional staff: Participates in the full software development life cycle (SDLC); complying with project plans and industry standards.
- Under direct supervision of professional staff: Assists in identifying areas for modification in existing programs and subsequently developing these modifications.
- Under direct supervision of professional staff: Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to fix and improve products.
Minimum Qualifications - Currently pursuing a Bachelor/Master's degree in Computer Science, or a related field.
- Ability to pass the Town of Marana background check.
