City of C uyahoga F alls — Water/Sewer Repair Specialist I
The City of Cuyahoga Falls is seeking a dedicated and skilled Water/Sewer Repair Specialist I to join our Public Utilities team. This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining and repairing the city’s water distribution and sewer systems to ensure safe and reliable service for our residents.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
K e y Responsibilities:
Performing water service taps using precision equipment like tapping machines and boring tools. Locating and repairing water main breaks, backfilling and tamping soil, and restoring service efficiently. Installing and maintaining key infrastructure—hydrants, valves, curb stops, and water mains.
Cleaning and repairing sanitary and storm sewers using manual tools and combination vacuum truck units. Identifying and repairing broken pipes or sections in sewer lines, performing backfill work, and ensuring proper sealing.
Participating in seasonal or emergency response programs such as leaf pickup and pump station maintenance. Operating a wide range of equipment: jackhammers, air compressors, bucket machines, pickup and dump trucks, and vac truck units.
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Quali f ications:
High school diploma or GED.
Previous experience in water distribution or sewer work preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort with tools and heavy equipment. Ability to perform physical labor outdoors in variable weather conditions.
License R equirements:
Valid Ohio driver’s license.
Must obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement through the City's in-house CDL entry-level training program within 6 months of appointment to the position.
Additional Requirements:
Must be a non-smoker/non-tobacco/nicotine user, including but not limited to cigarettes, cigars, pipes, snuff, etc., and refrain from using all tobacco/nicotine products for the duration of employment with the City.
W orking C onditions:
Expect physical activity and outdoor work in moderately loud environments. You’ll occasionally work in wet or elevated areas and with materials that require safe handling.
